1940′s Style Guide: Clothing And Fashion For Women
Is there an on-air fashion/style guide for tv news anchors and reporters?
Working on a project and I can’t find any information on a general fashion guide for on air news anchors and reporters (women). Anybody know of a style guide or article online that gives beginning news people a guide to what kind of clothes they should wear?
…
It used to be never wear yellow but we’re past that now.
It’s still not advised to wear stripes or any pattern that’s too loud or distracting.
Now it depends on whether a she’s hosting a show, anchoring the news or a foreign correspondent.
In sports media, 98% male dominated, women who want to be taken seriously do not wear dresses, preferring trousers and blazers or suits.
In standard media outlets they wear conservative dresses and co-ordinated ensembles in vibrant yet low-key colours. Most women self style and try not to repeat an outfit so lots of separates to mix and match. Garish accessories and showy cleavage are a no-no. Shoes may or may not be seen on air but should be functional and attractive, especially if you’re out in the field.
Go forth.
..
I need it to tell you different styles according to your hair length and type(how to wear your hair), tell you what colors you should wear, and give you different styles to wear. For teens ages 13-14
Well first you got to window shoping and see what you like
when you see the best thing buy it
Tip
1# If you want to look popular wear somthing twight to show your body in
2#if you don’t want to show your body shape wear somthing raging
Well hope thing helps bye

Does anyone know if there is a book or guide to how a stylish man should dress including tie knots, does and donts, colours that compliment each other. And other things.
Thanks in advance.
There is a book called “The 85 Ways to Tie a Tie”, by Thomas Fink and Yong Mao (1999). Only one I know of, sorry – but hopefully the link is useful too.
ladies / moms
will you start dressing and buying your clothes based on or using the new 1st lady as a fashion guide
I’ll spend most of the time in and around time square and such heavily touristic areas. And I don’t intent to look like some tourist across the Atlantic
I just want to feel ‘gelled-in’ with the New Yorkers.
According to my knowledge, high messy buns, large poofy scarves and high boots is what it seems to be the style. Plz guide me.. thanks
No, no, no, no. None of the fashionista’s are in Times Square or tourists areas. Those are simply, tourists. It doesn’t matter how much you will try to look like a New Yorker, being in a touristy place will obviously mean you are not one. Nobody will think you are a New Yorker. Right now, those jumpsuits are in. I see them everywhere. Jump suits with heels, small/large purses, and big hats. What are also in are those long see through skirts with leggings or tights underneath. Hells are always in, sandals now that it’s getting hot. High boots, not so much right now. It’s getting to the 70′s and moving up to the 80′s next month.
Like the person above me said, downtown is where all the fashion is. Lower East or West Side, Chelsea, Greenwich Village, and Soho are where you will find real, authentic New Yorkers and the style you are describing. Since you are going to be in a touristy section, everyone is going to be dressed like shit or in business attire. Or those “wanna be New Yorkers”.
So here’s the thing. I love fashion and style, and I love my own. I saw this book in the store, and while it looks interesting, I am NOT willing to spend twenty dollars on it, because I won’t use it everyday, and it always is like “heels are the answer!” and i walk all the time and don’t have heels. I think it would be nice to reference but it’s SO FREAKIN’ EXPENSIVE that I honestly don’t think it will fit my budget. So, help on where to find it or a cheaper, similar book?
i’m not really sure if you can find something of good quality for a cheaper price. if you really like the book and you think you would get a lot of use out of it then i think it’s worth the money. try going to a bookstore and looking around. i know that lauren conrad has a good book about style, so maybe try checking if that’s less pricey. good luck!
