I have tons of ideas for fashion designs in my head, but I can’t draw very well. Should I continue my ideas of taking Fashion Design classes, or just forget it because I can’t draw?
Get a software program that will draw your designs for you.

I want to study fashion design when I am finished high school. But theres a catch… I am not the best at drawing! I took art in high school once but it wasn’t what people would call art. It was pretty weird, but also was my teacher lol. Anyways if i go to a arts school for fashion design, will I have to have that experience or will I be taught how to draw properly???. If not, does anyone know of any schoos in ontario, canada that can teach me this and fashion designing too?
Thanks.
Shawna. =)
You can try Sheridan college, or Humber, or GeorgeBrown for like an introduction course, its a one year program to build up your portfolio and they have alot of drawing and painting courses-Its fun. It gives you an idea, and very hands on…My friend went to Humber College did one year- and now is in Ontario College of Art and Design.
After you have done one year course to build up your ‘portfolio’ to gain some practise, you can try Ryerson University in Toronto, I believe they have a good Fashion Design program
Are there any fashion design classes you can take online for free? Or fashion design tutorials?

I use these.
As far as “how to’s” on making a certain fabric look real on your model etc. it just takes practice.
So im a junior in highschool. this year im taking fashion 3. Last year we made our own prom dresses. Ive been thinking a lot & im really thinking of wanting to be in fashion for my career. I love designing i cant draw ppl but all i draw is the clothes. I’ll just close my eyes and see designs (is that normal lol) But i dont think i can construct everything i see i want to but im still learning & i think if i knew how to i could make some great stuff
I want to go to FIDM the fashion college but im not sure if i should go to a regular college before or just jump into fidm since thats what i really want to do. I want to focus on fashion design. Hopefully this year in school i will be learnilng a lot more.
my mom has her doubts shes like you cant just be a famous fashion designer right away…but i want to do something i love & i dont expect to just become famous i want to work in the industry even if its starting as designing for a bigger designer
any advice on college & the future???? tips about fashion design
I was the same way as you. I wanted to go to a major school like FIDM or Parsons, but the pricing is way out of my range. I great school to attend that I found and am attending is actually found in Utah, of all places. The Salt Lake Community College has a branch in their school located in the heart of the capitol that is dedicated to fashion design. The school is thousands of dollars cheaper and gives the same education as anywhere else from professionals that have been in or are currently working in the industry. It’s a great place to start. The school has been featured on the news and even has students that come from other countries to attend. Every year they have a fashion show that is a class and considered your final test before graduation. It definitely is a hidden treasure.
My daughter is five and her big brother has DS that she really loves. We are thinking about getting her one for Christmas. She wants a fashion design game and mentioned Imagine Fashion Designer. I want to know if that is appropriate and easy enough for her to do on her own. I would also like some other options for a fashion design game that would be good for her.
My fashion studio is more simple and easy AND fun than imagine Fashion designer, it really was HARD and all these menus for nothing.
It was a horrible game and “my fashion studio” really redeemed the company in question.
So go with “my fashion studio” not imagine fashion designer!
I want to take fashion design in Melbourne and I found 2 good schools that offer fashion design. They are RMIT University and Melbourne School of Fashion. Which one is the better one?
And which city do you think is better for students to study fashion design: Singapore or Melbourne?
Thanks a lot!
Place the name of each school separately into your favorite search engine and then add the phrase reviews and rankings. Compare and contrast them.
I’m planning to transfer to a fashion design university in California and I’ve been researching but the ones that I’ve found aren’t up to par. Please provide me with schools that have outstanding curriculum and that focus on all aspects of design such as designing, marketing, and business. I know that the Art Institutes do this but I’ve priced them and it would cost about $80,000 for 3 years.
The AI chain of schools doesn’t have a good rep in the industry. FIDM, which is big and popular, also has a poor rep. The best fashion design program in CA is at Otis College of Art, in Los Angeles.
I am looking at studying fashion design, but not sure which school I should go in London. I have heard of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and Istituto Marangoni. I just want to know which school will give me the best employment prospect, so I need the school that I go to, to not only give me a good education and training but also the good industry contacts and networking opportunity so that I have a better chance of getting a job at a big fashion house after I graduate. Thank you.
St Martins without a doubt.
Have a look at the many great people it has made. It has an excellent reputation and because of that the final year fashion shows are always popular viewing, there have also been cases of fashion designers copying ideas of the some of the students at St Martins so bear this in mind.
I’m looking at colleges to consider going to and I would like to major in fashion design. No sites I have been to list it as fashion design or they do not have it. What else would fashion design be listed as?
There’s only one term for fashion design, and it’s not a prominent college program in academic schools. You’d have to look at schools that specialize. See if you can get your counselor to point you. There are many courses you can take at other schools – such as Art, Drawing and Painting, Marketing, Computer Graphics. have a look at this site, see if it can provide some help.
